HOW DO NRIS GET PAN CARDS?
Every taxpayer must file income tax returns, and they must have a Permanent Account Number, or PAN card, to do so. It is an alphanumeric ten-digit code given out by the Income Tax Department. Similarly, an NRI PAN card is required for any non-resident Indian who earns a taxable income in India.

Offline PAN Application for NRIs
- To obtain the appropriate application form, go to the IT PAN service center or TIN facilitation center closest to you, such as UTI and NSDL.
- Complete the form, sign it, include copies of the pertinent documents, and submit it.
- You'll get an acknowledgement slip once you finish this procedure. Remember that you can use a demand draft to pay the required NRI PAN Card fees.
Online PAN Application for NRIs
- Go to the TIN portal website and select "Apply Online."
- Choose Form 49A for NRIs with Indian citizenship under "Application Type" and Form 49AA for foreign citizenship.
- Enter the captcha and the remaining required information before clicking "Submit."
- You will be redirected to the NRI PAN Card application form on the following page. Upload the required files, sign them, and submit them.
- To finish the procedure, make your purchase on the payment page.
- You will obtain an acknowledgement letter with a 15-digit number after completing the process for an online PAN card application for an NRI. You can use this number to verify the progress of your application later.
Within 15 days of applying, applicants can pick up their NRI PAN card at your mentioned address.

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR AN NRI PAN CARD?
As was already noted, NRIs can apply for a PAN card whether they are citizens of India or not. The list of documents they must produce may vary.
- Two current passport-sized photos
- Identity Card (such as an Aadhar card, a voter ID, or a driver's license)
- Address Proof (such as a copy of your passport, a bank statement from your home country, your NRE bank statement and at least two recent transactions is required)
- Copy of OCI (Overseas Indian Citizen) or PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card.
The documents mentioned above and Form 49AA must be presented by a foreign citizen who wants to apply for a PAN card with an Indian office address.
- You must also submit the following additional paperwork.
- Copy of the appointment letter sent by the Indian office.
- A certified copy of the applicant's original address from your Indian employer.
- Employer PAN Card information for online verification.
- Also, an NRI must attach the demand draft throughout the application procedure if the PAN application fee was paid offline, such as by an NRI.

WHAT IS THE NRI PAN CARD PAYMENT PROCESS?
It is significant to note that depending on the category of NRI taxpayer, different fees and payment procedures apply.
NRIs with an Indian Address
For those with Indian citizenship, an NRI PAN card costs 110 INR inclusive of GST. Other than cash, they can pay using any method. They include demand draughts, credit/debit cards, and online banking.
NRIs with a Foreign Address
- These people must pay a total of 1020 INR, which includes shipping, tax, and NRI PAN Card application fees.
- They are only able to initiate payments via credit/debit cards or by drawing a demand draught.
- The demand draft must be made payable in Mumbai in the direction of NSDL-PAN. Foreign credit cards are not currently accepted for these payments.
- It is crucial to keep in mind that only 105 countries can access this service; a list of these countries can be found on the NSDL website.
